Lines came through the club's academy and made his debut in 2006

Bristol Rovers midfielder Chris Lines has signed a new three-and-a-half year deal at the club.

The 24-year-old has been first choice in the Rovers midfield over the last two seasons and has scored six goals in 22 appearances during this campaign

Director of football Lennie Lawrence said: "We are thrilled that a player we value very highly has committed his future to Bristol Rovers.

"Chris is a fundamental part of our plans to take this club forward."

His performances this season have attracted attention from clubs in League One and the Championship.

Lawrence said: "It was originally only going to be an 18-month contract, but we decided it was in everyone's best interests to make it a long-term deal.

"And Chris was happy to commit his long term future to this club."

Another player to commit his future at the Memorial Stadium is 20-year-old Ben Swallow.

The left-sided midfielder, who made his first team debut this season, has signed on a two-and-a-half year contract.

"We have been really pleased with Ben this season and we have given him a new contract that reflects the improvements he has made," added Lawrence

"We hope that he can now continue this improvement and become an established and valued member of the first team."
