Bristol Rovers have completed the signing of Hereford United defender Ryan Green on a two-year contract. Green, 25, scored the winning goal in the play-off final against Halifax.
"He's got a lot of ability, pace and aggression, and he's a very good athlete," first team coach Paul Trollope told BBC Radio Bristol.
"I've know Ryan for a long time and played in the full Wales side with him many years ago, and I've played against him and he's always impressed me."
Trollope added: "He's got a desire to play higher again and that's also what we're looking to bring in."
Green will compete with Aaron Lescott for the right-back berth, with Trollope confident Lescott will sign his new contract this week.
Trollope said: "We're hoping he will come in on Thursday and sign on the dotted line and he had a good season so that will provide good competition for that position."
