Haynes and Nyatanga are aiming for the top with City this season
Bristol City new boys Danny Haynes and Lewin Nyatanga have both arrived at Ashton Gate with a point to prove.
The summer signings found chances limited at their former clubs and both are now looking to re-establish themselves as first-team regulars with their new outfit.
"Last year I played around 30 games for Derby but it was on and off," Nyatanga told BBC Radio Bristol.
"I didn't get a huge run so I want to get back to playing week in week out.
"I want to get regular first team appearances. Every year I want to improve as a player - you know that if you keep improving then that's the best you can do."

Asked for his thoughts on City's Premier League ambitions, the Wales international added: "I think anything's possible. If you look at the success over the last few years in this league, they've done very well.
"Anyone can win the Championship, it comes down to a team that's organised, got that team spirit and has a bit of luck along the way. I think anything's possible.
"I haven't been here long but there's a really good team spirit in the changing room. You come in during the morning and everyone's having a joke. Everyone gets on - it's a really great atmosphere.
"My aim is to get in to the Premier League. Speaking to the manager and the players, that's the mentality, that's where they want to be and that's where I want to be. Hopefully we can push forward and achieve that."
And 21-year-old striker Haynes, who joined Gary Johnson's side from Ipswich after starting just 10 games last season, shares Nyatanga's ambition.

He said: "I want to be playing as many games as possible, doing the best I can for Bristol City.
"I always want to progress with my football and hopefully the gaffer can help me along the way as well. Everyone wants to be playing in the Premier League and that's my aim too.
"All the players here are close, there's a good atmosphere around the club. There's a lot of players fighting for positions who know the situation so it will be good for the club."
