"The game could have gone either way but for a bit of experienced play from Dean Windass.
"I thought the game was pretty even. We had as many chances but didn't take them and Dean Windass is a clever player like that. We threw our kitchen sink at them at the end but it didn't come off.
"We have to fine tune and improve and compete in the Championship next year.
"We wanted to do it for our fans and our chairman and I wanted to do it for the players. You can see how distraught they are and they will take a lot of consoling."
