Interview: Bristol City manager Gary Johnson
Gary Johnson has told BBC Radio Bristol he has let his Bristol City squad know exactly what is required to keep their Championship promotion hopes on track.
"You've got to tell the ones who are not up to the pace that they're not up to the pace," he said.
"Then discuss it and try to put it right for everybody on the pitch.
"The ideal scenario is to have everybody flying and having decisions to make as far as the team's concerned with a lot to choose from."
"At the moment there's a handful that have not put themselves in that position. They've got to get their head down and show me on the training ground that they're all right."
Having enjoyed two promotions with Yeovil Town, Johnson knows the importance of changing the way he handles his players on the run in.
"What you can't do at this stage is appease anyone," he says. "You can't go around saying 'there there, never mind'.
"With 20 games to go, you've got to keep everyone happy, because you' don't know when you're going to pick any one of your squad.
"With six games to go, that's less important. So really these last few days were about 'this is what we've got to do, we've got to be professional enough to do it, we've got to be good enough to do it, and then you've got to relax and get your best game out'."
