The Dublin-born stopper has agreed a one-year deal and will arrive at Ashton Gate when his deal with Aston Villa expires on 1 July.

Henderson told the club's website: "I am very happy. I have spoken to the gaffer and cannot wait to get going.

"I want to prove myself here, make an impression and challenge the other two goalkeepers already at the club."

Henderson is the nephew of ex-Villa and Brighton keeper Wayne Henderson, who is now at Preston.
