Defender Coles on transfer list
Bristol City defender Danny Coles
Coles looks to have a future outside of Ashton Gate
Bristol City have transfer-listed defender Danny Coles and relieved Tom Doherty of the captaincy, reports BBC Radio Bristol.

The moves by manager Brian Tinnion follow one-to-one talks with all his players in a bid to improve results.

Despite being tied to a long term contract at Ashton Gate, Coles has been made available for transfer.

Meanwhile Doherty will be replaced by Jamie Smith as captain, in order to help him focus on his own form.

Coles will remain part of the playing squad, but the 23-year-old has expressed his desire to move on. In a club statement Tinnion said: "For the good of Danny Coles' career, we have agreed to circulate his name to Championship clubs."

Coles added : "I think both the club and myself realise it's time for a fresh challenge."

Coles was City's young player of the year two seasons ago and the club subsequently turned down an offer of half a million pounds from Cardiff City for him.
