Birmingham City chairman David Gold has denied reports he is about to invest in Brighton & Hove Albion. Gold says he met with Seagulls chairman Dick Knight but has "not expressed an interest in investing in Brighton".
But Gold admits he would be interested in talking to clubs in the south if and when he sells his remaining 23.22% shareholding in Birmingham.
"Dick and I had an interesting discussion covering many issues but I'm still Birmingham chairman," he said.
Under FA and Football League rules, Gold cannot invest in another club while he has a shareholding in Birmingham.
He told the Brighton website: "Until I sell my remaining shares it would be inappropriate for me to say more.
"What the future holds for me depends on what happens at Birmingham.
"If I leave there would be clubs I would be interested in talking to - but they would have to be in the south."
