Crichton has played for several clubs including Doncaster, Grimsby, West Brom and Burnley, and replaces John Keeley who has left to join Portsmouth.

Boss Dean Wilkins told the club website: "Paul has impressive coaching qualifications and we have already seen him in action on the training ground.

"He also has a huge amount of experience from over 20 years playing professional football."
