Brighton boss Mark McGhee was delighted with defender Joel Lynch's display in their 1-0 win at Rotherham. It was the 18-year-old's first senior start in central defence.
"We have always seen Joel as a centre-half, but we felt that he wasn't quite ready enough to play there in the Championship last year," McGhee said.
"Joel was a colossus, but Kerry Mayo was excellent at left-back - he used his experience to help players around him, and that is what we need."
