New setback for Brighton skipper
Brighton & Hove Albion
Brighton captain Charlie Oatway is set to miss the start of the new season.

Oatway has had exploratory surgery on the ankle he broke on Boxing Day 2005 in a game against QPR, which has prevented him from playing since then.

Albion manager Mark McGhee told BBC Southern Counties Radio: "He's likely to miss two to three months.

"It's a big blow for us. We missed him in games last year, and he's a positive influence around the place. It's a pity for us, and for Charlie too."

In May, Oatway had expressed the hope that he would have been able to rejoin his team-mates for pre-season training, which begins this week.
