Brentford signing Charlie MacDonald has vowed to prove he is good enough to play League football and fire the Bees to promotion from League Two.
The 27-year-old striker joined Brentford from Southend for an undisclosed fee to become the club's eighth summer signing.
MacDonald told BBC London 94.9: "I need to be given a fair crack.
"At Charlton and Southend I wasn't given as many games as I think I deserved to play."
MacDonald scored 27 goals in the 2006/2007 season at Gravesend & Northfleet, earning him a move to League One Southend.
But he found his time at Roots Hall frustrating: "Obviously starting only 15 games was disappointing. So here, I've got no excuses.
"Hopefully I can win a place in the team, get a good run under my belt and it's down to me then to go and do the business and if I don't there's nobody to blame but myself."
