Bees fans complete marathon walk
Pete Hayward
Pete Hayward is the man whose pledge led to the walk taking place
Five Brentford supporters have completed their marathon 286-mile walk from Griffin Park to Hartlepool in time for the sides' League One match.

The group set off on February 11 to raise money for the Helen Rollason Cancer Care Centre Appeal and the club's Supporters Trust Bees United.

They have trekked through deep snow to reach their destination - missing the last two FA Cup games for the cause.

They ate with the Brentford squad on Monday before completing their journey.

The five undertook their journey following a pledge by supporter Pete Hayward last season, when The Bees seemed destined for relegation, that he would walk to this season's match at Hartlepool if they stayed up.

He honoured his promise and was joined by fellow supporters Rod Gowers, John Dempsey, Pete Atkinson and Dave Lane.

The group's efforts have raised over 10,000, which will be split equally between the two causes.
