Bradford City boss Stuart McCall admits he cannot see the transfer deal for Derby's Darren Moore happening.
McCall has held talks with the big defender, but knows League Two football may not appeal to the player.
"It would be a major coup to sign a player like Darren, but I honestly can't see it happening," McCall told BBC Radio Leeds.
"Only last season he was a Premier League player and I'm sure Championship clubs are looking at him too."
McCall added: "We've put our hat in the ring and had a good chat with him and it's just a case of fingers crossed now."
Moore still has a year left on his current deal at Derby, but has been made available for transfer by boss Paul Jewell.
Jewell told BBC Radio Derby: "I spoke to Darren at the end of the season and told him if he could find a club we wouldn't stand in his way.
"Darren's been a terrific professional. I managed him at Bradford - in fact I think I sold him at Bradford.
"If Bradford want to do a deal, we'll help that along. I'm sure there won't be any shortage of takers for him."
