Cherries close to takeover deal

Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Alastair Saverimutto has said that the club is close to being taken over by a consortium from the Middle East.

Saverimutto, along with chairman Paul Baker, helped lead the Cherries out of administration in August 2008.

He told BBC Radio Solent: "I'm hoping to conclude the deal completely by the end of March.

"The people I'm bringing in are known to me and were looking to buy a Premier League club four or five years ago."

Saverimutto added "We have an interim financial issue at the club to get over first.

"It takes time to get to the position we are in at the moment, and to get there in just four weeks is quite incredible. It's helped that these people trust me, they are credible people."
