Cherries make double loan swoop

Rhoys Wiggins and Jake Thomson
Wiggins and Thomson are caretaker boss Howe's first signings

Bournemouth caretaker boss Eddie Howe has made Southampton midfielder Jake Thomson and Crystal Palace defender Rhoys Wiggins his first loan signings.

Thomson, 19, and Wales Under-21 international full-back Wiggins, 21, have both signed one-month deals.

Howe told BBC Radio Solent: "I saw Jake play a number of times last season, he's quick. Rhoys comes highly recommended as a left-back."

Both players go straight into the squad for Saturday's home game with Bradford.

Howe added: "Carl Fletcher recommended Rhoys and he'll be a good addition."

Former Cherries skipper Fletcher now plays at Palace, having played alongside Howe in the Cherries defence before leaving for West Ham in 2004.

Thomson has made nine appearances for Saints this season.
