Moss made over 250 appearances for the Cherries

Bournemouth goalkeeper Neil Moss has announced his immediate retirement from professional football.

The 33-year-old suffered a broken wrist in January, and has been advised by surgeons to hang up his gloves.

Moss - who started and now finishes his career with the Cherries - also had seven years at Southampton.

He told BBC Radio Solent: "It was the news I was expecting, but not hoping for, obviously. The operation to repair it (my wrist) wasn't successful."

Moss's retirement leaves Cherries boss Kevin Bond with only teenage rookie goalkeeper Ryan Pryce, after Gareth Stewart was released at the end of last season.
