Vokes is in the Wales squad for two friendlies next week

Bournemouth boss Kevin Bond has expressed his "surprise" and "disappointment" at the sale of star striker Sam Vokes.

The 18-year-old has signed for Wolves on a four-year deal in a move handled by the Cherries' administrators.

Bond told BBC Radio Solent: "I'm surprised and disappointed by the news.

"I wanted to keep him, but I knew it would be difficult. I only found out he had gone half-an-hour before the signing was announced."

Bond added: "The administrators have handled the deal, and the chairman didn't know anything about it either."

"I'm not likely to see any of the money to strengthen the squad. It will all go back into safeguarding the future of the club financially."
