Defender Paul Telfer has cancelled his contract with Bournemouth to help ease their financial worries. The 36-year-old has a foot injury which requires surgery and the operation would rule him out for the remainder of the season.
Chairman Jeff Mostyn told the club's website: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank Paul Telfer for his amazing gesture of support.
"Paul has proved himself to be the ultimate professional."
Mostyn added: "Paul could have chosen to have his operation, which will result in him missing the remainder of the season, and received full pay.
"In order to help the club in its current financial position, he chose to cancel his contract and will receive no further pay. I can not think of a greater gesture of support at this moment in time for the football club."
