Bournemouth chairman Peter Phillips is concerned that they may not be able to hang on to midfielder John Spicer. Spicer, 21, has another year remaining on his contract at Dean Court.
Phillips told BBC Radio Solent: "One of the conditions when we signed John was that if a Championship club came in for him, we wouldn't stand in his way.
"Obviously there's got to be an acceptable compensation package if that's the case but John's an ambitious man, although we'd like him to stay."
Spicer moved to the south coast in a 10,000 deal from Arsenal in December after a successful three-month loan spell.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth have begun negotiations with their 13 out-of-contract players.
