Bournemouth utility man Stephen Purches saluted striker Brett Pitman, after the 17-year-old scored his first Cherries goal in the 4-1 LDV win over Aldershot. "He slotted the penalty away very well, and he won't forget that one, as he failed his driving test today as well," Purches told BBC Sport.
"But I asked him what he would rather have done, and he said score the goal!
"James Keene came on and got a couple too - it'll be good for his confidence, and hopefully he can score a few more."
The versatile Purches was making his first appearance of the season, after picking up a knee injury in a pre-season friendly.
"After 11 weeks out, it's nice just to be back out there and playing again," he added.
"I was pleased I came through as long as I did. We've had a lot of injuries, but for the team to gel as well as it has done is excellent."
