Boss Sean O'Driscoll was pleased with the way Bournemouth recovered from going 1-0 down to win 2-1 at Oldham. "You're not going to play well every week in this division, but we changed the system after 20 minutes and we were more comfortable after that," he said.
"But we're extremely flexible - people like Wade Elliott have played out of position but done fantastic jobs.
"Once we got into the game, I thought we might get an equaliser - if we got it, I thought we could go on and win."
James Hayter got both goals, to keep the Cherries marksman as League One's joint top scorer alongside Pawel Abbott and Leroy Lita.
O'Driscoll added: "John Spicer has got a great engine and the longer the game goes on, you know he's going to get in behind the back four - he created it, but James has been on the spot for us all season.
"His second goal was a great finish, after a great flick from Steve Fletcher, and at 2-1 up I didn't think we were going to lose.
"Late on, they threw everybody forward but we kept our shape and stayed nice and solid, which bodes well for the future.
"But every team in this division can beat each other, and Luton's result (a 3-0 defeat at Hull) shows how close it's going to be."
