Boston chairman Jon Sotnick has threatened legal action over match-fixing claims in the Pilgrims' 4-2 defeat to Carlisle in March. The Football Association confirmed it has received a letter claiming unusual betting patterns on the Asian markets.
Sotnick told Boston's website: "It's obvious whoever started this rumour has a grievance against us.
"I've instructed lawyers to investigate and I'll do everything to press charges against those who started this story."
National newspaper reports that the match was under investigation have angered the Boston chairman.
Sotnick added: "Those who don't know me quite obviously underestimate me and I'll do everything in my power to protect this club against further untruths.
"We have worked extremely hard over the last three years to install a footballing culture and this is the last thing I expected.
"I will continue consulting with our lawyers until I get to the bottom of these events."
A professional gambler has submitted claims to the FA that significant sums were bet in the Far East on the victory margin of the game.
Carlisle won the match 4-2 with a goal in the last minute.
An FA spokesman said: "As always, if we have evidence of any breaches of the rules we will investigate thoroughly."
