Ward (left) played for Swindon against Millwall in the League One play-off final
Bolton teenager Danny Ward has signed a new three-year contract with the club.
The 18-year-old forward has made only two substitute appearances for the club but scored seven league goals during a loan spell at Swindon last season.
And Bolton boss Owen Coyle wants to send Ward out on loan again this season to help him gain experience.
"I have tremendous belief in Danny but it's fair to say that he needs to go and get some Championship experience," Coyle told the club website.
"He was involved in our squad throughout pre-season and did ever so well but with the players that we have in front of him at the moment then it makes sense for him to go out on loan."
Coyle said "numerous" Championship clubs had expressed an interest in Ward and that he was likely to go out on loan in the next week.
Coventry are believed to be leading the chase for a player who helped Swindon reach the League One play-off final last season.
"He can now go out on an emergency loan, which covers the next three months, and I know that when he comes back then I will get a far better player," added Coyle.
