Barcelona forward Eidur Gudjohnsen will not be joining Bolton on loan, according to his father and agent.

Bolton manager Gary Megson revealed this week he was working on a bid to bring the 29-year-old Iceland player back to the Reebok Stadium.

But his father Arnor Gudjohnsen told BBC Sport: "Eidur isn't going anywhere.

"Both he and his family are settled in Barcelona. Eidur is hoping to win a trophy with the club this season and will think about things in the summer."

Gudjohnsen spent two years at Bolton between 1998 and 2000 before making a 5m move to Chelsea.

After playing almost 200 games for the Blues during a six-year period, Gudjohnsen was signed by Barcelona for 8m in the summer of 2006.

In his first season injuries and the competition for places in attack prevented him from winning a place in the Barca starting line-up.

But this season, the Iceland player has been deployed in a midfield role by the Catalan giants - a tactic that has suited him.

"It is where I believe that I can use my quality in a better way by arriving late and trying to cause a surprise," the Barcelona player said this month.
