Sam Allardyce hailed "magic" Jay-Jay Okocha after the Nigerian's best performance of the season earned Bolton a 1-0 win at Tottenham.
Okocha hit the bar three times and set up the winning goal for Kevin Nolan in a display which left his manager purring.
"It was an inspirational performance from our captain," said Allardyce.
"We struggled to get possession in the first 10 minutes then all of a sudden he decided to turn the magic on, and that lifted the whole of our side.
"Once he started showing that ability we passed the ball a lot better and a lot quicker and once we got at Tottenham's back four we caused them quite a few problems and in the end got what we deserved.
"I would say that was the best Jay-Jay has played this season."
After just one victory in 10 going into the trip to White Hart Lane Allardyce wants his side to use their unexpected victory as a platform for further Premiership success.
"We have set a standard and we mustn't waste a rare Premiership victory away going into next week, we have to take it on another level.
"My 11 players played to their best today and they always have to do that for us to win a Premiership game.
"On chances created and shots on goal we dominated the game and that is pleasing because it has been a torrid place for me on the last three occasions.
"It has to be a turning point for us all."
