Harte (left) played for Levante in Spain after leaving Leeds

Blackpool have signed experienced former Republic of Ireland defender Ian Harte on a month-to-month contract.

The 31-year-old left Sunderland in June and had been training at Blackpool after trials at Championship rivals Wolves, Sheffield United and Charlton.

He will be available for selection for Saturday's trip to Nottingham Forest.

Harte, who has won 64 international caps, began his career at Leeds and spent nine years at Elland Road before joining Spanish side Levante.
