Blackpool have completed the signing of Mansfield midfielder Alex Baptiste on a two-year contract.
The 22-year-old joins from the Blue Square Premier side for an undisclosed fee, with the option of a further year.
"I've played for Mansfield since I left school, but this is a massive opportunity for me," Baptiste told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"I found out last week they were interested and I think the future is bright for Blackpool."
Baptiste handed in a transfer request to the Field Mill club following their relegation from the Football League.
And the player revealed he needed a fresh challenge.
"I just wanted to test myself as high as I can.
"I wanted to prove to everyone that I am a good player and I can't wait to show my stuff. Hopefully I can get in the first-team as soon as possible."
Meanwhile, the Seasiders have received a major boost after Claus Jorgensen and Stephen Crainey both signed new deals.
Faroe Islands international midfielder Jorgensen, 32, has penned a one-year deal, while 27-year-old Crainey signs on for an extra two-years.
Both players have the option of a further year.
Defender Crainey, who was voted player of the season at Bloomfield Road, was thought to be a target for Championship rivals Burnley.
