Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce says Benni McCarthy can leave Ewood Park this month if they can find another striker.
The South African, 32, is frustrated by a lack of chances, and wants to boost his chances of being in the World Cup.
Allardyce told BBC Radio Lancashire: "We've had no offers for him at the moment. As long as it's right for the football club first, then that's OK.
"That always happens in this industry. We also have to have a replacement. January's a big month for us."
He continued: "It's probably the biggest month of the season for a long time with the Premier League matches and the Carling Cup semi-final.
"That's the most important thing rather than the transfer market or what Benni McCarthy should or shouldn't be doing."
McCarthy has made only nine starts in league and cup this season, scoring four times.
He has scored 52 goals in total for Blackburn since arriving from Porto in the summer of 2006.
