Striker Franco di Santo is to stay with Blackburn Rovers for the rest of the season after his loan spell from Chelsea was extended.
The 20-year-old Argentine, who was due to return to Chelsea in January after moving to Ewood Park in August, has scored one goal in 15 matches.
Fellow Rovers striker Benni McCarthy has indicated he would like a move in January to help his World Cup dream.
The South African, 32, is frustrated at a lack of regular starts this season.
"I'd like to stay in England. This is a great league," McCarthy told the Lancashire Telegraph.
"I'm just unhappy with my situation and need to feel wanted again. I'm not getting any younger but I know I can still make an impact.
"This is a very big year for me. To come from South Africa and have the chance to play for my country in the World Cup is massive.
"I can't risk that by playing the odd game here and there for Blackburn. I need to play and I hope they will allow me to fulfil that dream.
"They got me for next to nothing and they've had a good return with more than 50 goals in about 130 games.
"Hopefully they won't ask an unreasonable fee and let me go when the window opens."
McCarthy, who has started Rovers' last three games, has scored 52 goals for the club since arriving from Porto in the summer of 2006.
But he had to wait until Boxing Day to notch his first in the Premier League this season, his other three goals coming in the Carling Cup.
Di Santo joined Chelsea in January 2008 on a four-and-a-half year contract as an 18-year-old from Chilean side Audax Italiano for an undisclosed fee.
But he failed to establish himself at Stamford Bridge and has made just 16 substitute appearances.
