Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes looks set to follow Sir Alex Ferguson's path and sign a rolling 12-month deal. Hughes is currently in negotiations with Blackburn chairman John Williams and could agree terms before Rovers' next game against Fulham.
"We have had some discussions and will carry on with those to bring it to fruition," said Williams.
Hughes was named the Premier League manager of the month for October after leading Rovers to sixth place.
The 44-year-old Welshman is regarded as one of the Premier League's brightest managerial prospects and was recently linked with the Tottenham job, before it was filled by Spaniard Juande Ramos.

The former Manchester United favourite has also been mooted as Ferguson's potential long-term successor should the Scot decide to step down at Old Trafford.
Hughes, who took over the reins at Ewood Park in September 2004, has taken charge of 121 games at Blackburn, leading them to 49 victories, 42 defeats and 30 draws.
