Savage was injured during Blackburn's defeat at Watford |
Blackburn's Robbie Savage may miss the rest of the season after breaking his leg in the 2-1 defeat at Watford. The 32-year-old Welsh international midfield man was hurt early in the second half in a challenge with Al Bangura and had to be stretchered off.
Rovers boss Mark Hughes said: "We have heard from the hospital it is a break. How severe it is, we don't know yet."
But Blackburn's official website has reported that Savage could be missing for the remainder of the campaign.
Boss Hughes added: "We are devastated for Robbie. He has played very well this year and it is a huge blow for him and for us."
Bangura's challenge was his second on Savage in quick succession.

It was deemed to be legal by referee Dermot Gallagher but appeared reckless in TV replays.
Hughes added: "People have said that but I haven't seen it. I need to look at it again.
"I hope there was nothing untoward, just two guys going in for a challenge in a wholehearted way.
"It's come on top of a performance and a result we weren't expecting so it has not been a good evening that's for sure."
Savage is the second Blackburn player to break his leg in the last four days, following Andre Ooijer who suffered the same injury during his side's win at Manchester City on Saturday.
