Neill has attracted a bid from Liverpool |
Blackburn will offer an improved deal to defender Lucas Neill, who rejected initial terms before the World Cup. The 28-year-old's current contract runs out at the end of the season - when he will be able to leave for free.
Blackburn turned down an offer from Liverpool before transfer deadline day for Neill, who joined Rovers in 2001.
Blackburn chairman John Williams said: "He did turn our first offer down before the World Cup but we will be offering him an improved version."
Blackburn boss Mark Hughes is keen to keep Neill and made the player captain for Rovers' last match against Chelsea.
The Australia international can play at left-back or right-back and could move when the transfer window reopens in January if he does not agree a new deal.
