Paul Dickov has been released by Blackburn after he rejected an offer of a new contract at Ewood Park. The 33-year-old Scotland international has been linked with a return to former club Manchester City.
And Rovers' chairman John Williams told the Lancashire Evening Post: "Paul has been released after he decided not to accept our offer of a new contract.
"I don't think there was any problem with the terms we offered him, it was more of a football decision."
Dickov scored seven goals last season for Mark Hughes' side after joining for �150,000 from Leicester in June 2004.
He played for Manchester City for six years and left the club to join the Foxes in 2002.
