Fowler is waiting for a decision on his Liverpool future |
Blackburn will join the race to sign Robbie Fowler - if the striker fails to land a new contract at Liverpool. The 31-year-old is on a short-term deal at Anfield and boss Rafael Benitez has yet to make a decision on his future.
Bolton manager Sam Allardyce showed an interest and Blackburn boss Mark Hughes has now confirmed he will make a move.
He said: "If he became available I'm sure a number of clubs would be interested. He is the type of player I would ask about."
The former England forward returned to Anfield in a shock move in January and was given six months to prove his worth.
He has scored three goals, including two in successive Premiership victories against West Bromwich Albion and Bolton.
Hughes, whose Blackburn side play Liverpool at Ewood Park on Sunday, added: "Robbie has been a top player for a long time.
"You don't lose that overnight. His movement is amazing and he is looking very good.
"Robbie has always been a very clever player. His ability to take chances is something he has never lost, he was born with that."
