Lucas Neill has a year left on his current Ewood Park deal |
Blackburn Rovers have opened talks with defender Lucas Neill about a new Ewood Park contract. Rovers boss Mark Hughes wants to tie up the 28-year-old Australian on a long-term deal as there is only one year left on his current agreement.
Rovers chairman John Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "We have had preliminary talks with Lucas' camp so the process has started."
The club is also negotiating with Tugay, Michael Gray and Paul Dickov.
Those three players' contracts are up at the end of this season and they are currently considering the offers.
Rovers are also looking to talk to midfielder Steven Reid, whose contract expires next summer.
Further talks over a new deal for Hughes are planned for next month.
