Blackburn boss Mark Hughes says his side can have no complaints about being knocked out by Bournemouth in the Carling Cup after a poor performance. Rovers lost on penalties and Hughes said: "We should have seen that game out. We conceded three goals which, given our chances, is disappointing.
"Our performance wasn't good enough and we did not deserve to get anything.
"They tried to play the right way and passed but I'm disappointed. This evening is a wake-up call."
He added: "We made too many errors and when that happens you often concede goals and that happened to us."
But Hughes, who took over at Ewood Park boss last week, was quick to praise the opposition after his first cup match as Rovers boss ended in defeat.
"All credit to Bournemouth," Hughes added. "I think Sean O'Driscoll has a very good team. They're well drilled and know their jobs.
"Bournemouth stuck to their task and looked physically stronger at times, and that is not acceptable."
Rovers are next in action when they take on Charlton at The Valley on Monday 27 September.
