Hughes appears to have the support of Blackburn's players |
Defender Craig Short would welcome the appointment of Mark Hughes as Blackburn manager - if it happens. Wales boss Hughes is a front-runner to fill the Ewood Park vacancy following Graeme Souness's move to Newcastle.
Short told BBC Sport: "People say he has not done club management yet but he deals with international players so he will be able to handle it.
"I'd really like him there and he is a popular choice in the dressing room but unfortunately it is not up to me."
Hughes is believed to be the favourite in Blackburn's shortlist of candidates, which includes former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier and ex-Rangers and Holland boss Dick Advocaat.
Also thought to be in the frame are Gordon Strachan and Hearts head coach Craig Levein.
