Blackburn striker Paul Gallagher has agreed a new deal to stay at Ewood Park until the summer of 2008. The 19-year-old, who won his first cap for Scotland against Wales in February, admitted he was thrilled to sign the four-and-a-half year contract.
Gallagher said: "All I want to do is progress my career with Rovers and to sign up for such a long period is great by me.
"It has been a fairytale few months and this is just the icing on the cake."
He added: "To become part of the first team squad with the club you have supported all your life is brilliant."
Rovers boss Graeme Souness told the club's website: "We are delighted with the progress Paul continues to make and this new contract reflects that.
"He is a player of considerable promise and potential who has become an international within a few weeks of breaking into the Premiership which is, in itself, quite remarkable."
