![]() | Monday, 14 January, 2002, 08:44 GMT Cole's starring role ![]() Andy Cole's strike for Blackburn Rovers in their 4-1 win against Charlton is BBC Sport Online's Goal of the Week. Andy Cole left Manchester United because of a lack of chance to show his goalscoring potential - and he is certainly doing that following his move to Blackburn. Cole's first league goal for his new club provided a timely reminder that he cannot be ignored as Sven-Goran Eriksson considers his squad for the World Cup. Cole had already set up Tugay Kerimoglu with a one-two for Blackburn's first goal, as well as hit the post himself, when he received the ball 20 yards out just before half-time.
"Andy is somebody who links up play better than most and he has a range of cute passes that can split any defence," Souness said. "Top players like Andy have a willingness to work hard and that's what makes them a cut above the rest. "Their work rate is an asset and Andy has it in abundance. I always knew he had great ability, but he has more to his game than I ever imagined." |
