Nicky Hunt admits he was impressed with Liam Ridgewell's character
Birmingham City full-back Nicky Hunt admits that Alex McLeish's half-time team talk had a big say in Saturday's victory over Charlton at St Andrew's.
Despite the second half dismissal of Nigel Quashie for a second yellow card, 10-man Blues bounced back to win 3-2.
And Hunt told BBC WM: "The manager said 'Look, I don't know where you are or what you're doing, but show me second half what you can do.
"We went out there and blasted them off the park really."
Hunt, who has been a steady performer since arriving from Bolton as cover for the injured Stephen Kelly and Stuart Parnaby, is enjoying his time at St Andrew's.
"My confidence is growing and growing with every game and I'm getting fitter," he said.
"After the three matches we've had it was important to get a win. The lads were tremendous."
Blues had taken only one point from their three previous games, and that form looked like it might continue when an error from centre-back Liam Ridgewell handed Charlton the half-time lead.
But Hunt says he was impressed with how the whole team rallied round the former Aston Villa defender during the interval.
"Mistakes get made," said Hunt. "He's big enough not to let it affect him and I don't think he did in any way, shape or form.
"He bounced back and I thought everyone did really well."
