McLeish saw his side lose their lead of the Championship at Loftus Road
Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has said he had no concerns over giving teenage defender Jared Wilson his first taste of Championship football.
Wilson, 19, replaced the injured Stuart Parnaby after 11 minutes of Tuesday's defeat at Queen's Park Rangers.
McLeish told BBC WM: "I had no qualms about putting Jared in. He's an excellent player.
"He's maybe not the experienced player you'd want to bring in but we're down to three or four defenders."
Wilson was an unused substitute in Blues' recent game with Crystal Palace but came on for his debut in the 1-0 defeat at Loftus Road.
"It's asking a lot to put youngsters into the situation that we're in at the moment in trying to win leagues but I thought Jared showed he's got an excellent future," McLeish added.
