Sullivan is the biggest single shareholder at Birmingham

Next season even the side finishing bottom of the Premier League will receive over �25m in television rights.

Sullivan told the Birmingham Sunday Mercury: "There's a big pie we could be getting a slice of.

"We have very few high earners. That means we've the capacity to sign four or five players on huge wages - and maybe for huge transfer fees."

Birmingham beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park on Saturday to climb to second place in the Championship table, three points behind Derby, although the Blues have a game in hand over the leaders.

Sullivan added: "We also want good, young players from the Championship who we think can make the jump.

"You're then investing in good, young British players for the future and that might also help the national team.

"It would also help the club long-term. If we spent the money wisely and luckily - and there's a lot of luck involved - we could be very competitive.

"In the summer, we will aggressively acquire a group of young players we hope will be the future of Birmingham City."

Earlier this month Sullivan said he wanted to leave the club because he felt "under-appreciated".

"You want to be somewhere you feel appreciated. I feel I need a break, maybe a year off from football," said Sullivan.

"I have said for two or three years that basically I would like to move back to London. But I am not like a player or a manager who can just jump ship.
