Scans allay Bendtner injury fears
Nicklas Bendtner
Bendtner is rated highly by both Birmingham and Arsenal
Birmingham striker Nicklas Bendtner will only be out of action for around a month after scans confirmed his ankle injury is not as bad as first feared.

The Dane was stretchered off during the Blues' FA Cup draw with Newcastle amid fears he had broken his ankle.

But an MRI scan has shown the on-loan Arsenal player has only sprained it.

"Following X-rays and scans, we can confirm he has sprained his ankle. He is likely to be out for three to four weeks," read a club statement.

"It is not as bad as first feared and now his recovery time will depend somewhat on how he responds to treatment."

We have agreed a fee and I'm very hopeful that we can complete a deal over the next few days

Karren Brady on Sebastian Larsson

Managing director Karren Brady had told BBC Five Live Sport on Sunday: "We thought it was very serious but, thankfully, he has not broken anything."

And Brady also confirmed that the club is close to making another on-loan Arsenal player, Sebastian Larsson, a permanent signing.

"We have agreed a fee and I'm very hopeful that we can complete a deal over the next few days," she added.
