Nafti could provide the combative edge Birmingham need in their fight |
Birmingham's relegation fight is set to be boosted by midfielder Mehdi Nafti's imminent return to training after seven months out. Blues' boss Steve Bruce was resigned to losing the 27-year-old Tunisian for the season after rupturing knee cruciate ligaments in a pre-season friendly.
Bruce said: "He made a huge impact for us towards the end of last season but he hasn't kicked a ball this season.
"He's someone who is a right competitor and gives it everything."
Blues boss Steve Bruce initially signed Nafti on loan from Racing Santander for the second half of last season and he completed a 700,000 permanent move to St Andrews during the summer.
Birmingham have received more encouraging news with skipper Kenny Cunningham and striker Chris Sutton winning battles to be fit for Saturday's home game against Tottenham.
Cunningham has started only one of the last nine games due to a groin injury, while Sutton missed the matches against Middlesbrough and West Brom with a hip problem.
