Birmingham boss Steve Bruce is the ideal manager to tame Craig Bellamy, according to his chairman David Gold. Bellamy has been involved in a public bust up with Newcastle boss Graeme Souness and has held talks with the St Andrews club over a 6m move.
"Although the circumstances were different, Steve did a similar thing with Christophe Dugarry," said Gold.
"He was supposed to be past his sell-by date but Steve got a fantastic half a season out of him which kept us up."
Gold added: "Now we have a top player available in Craig Bellamy that Steve wants to sign and we have great confidence in the manager to get the best from him."
Gold said: "I am sure we have got a willing buyer and seller in the arrangement. I am sure Craig will be willing to come and join Steve Bruce, Emile Heskey, Clinton Morrison etc, etc.
"I can't imagine wages being too much of a problem and it would be very close to being our biggest signing if it happens."
