Gold backs Bruce to tame Bellamy
Craig Bellamy
Birmingham boss Steve Bruce is the ideal manager to tame Craig Bellamy, according to his chairman David Gold.

Bellamy has been involved in a public bust up with Newcastle boss Graeme Souness and has held talks with the St Andrews club over a 6m move.

"Although the circumstances were different, Steve did a similar thing with Christophe Dugarry," said Gold.

"He was supposed to be past his sell-by date but Steve got a fantastic half a season out of him which kept us up."

Gold added: "Now we have a top player available in Craig Bellamy that Steve wants to sign and we have great confidence in the manager to get the best from him."

Gold said: "I am sure we have got a willing buyer and seller in the arrangement. I am sure Craig will be willing to come and join Steve Bruce, Emile Heskey, Clinton Morrison etc, etc.

"I can't imagine wages being too much of a problem and it would be very close to being our biggest signing if it happens."
