Birmingham co-owner David Sullivan is confident of completing a double swoop for Chelsea pair Jesper Gronkjaer and Mario Melchiot. Sullivan claimed Birmingham's chances of landing the pair by the end of the week are "as good as 80%."
Gronkjaer will cost Birmingham 3m while Melchiot is available after his Chelsea contract expired.
Sullivan said: "We like to think the Birmingham board are like the Mounties; we always get our man."
Danish international Gronkjaer had looked to be on his way to Spanish club Sevilla, but Sullivan is optimistic he will choose St Andrews.
"Jesper has indicated that he will come, via his agent, and now its down to sorting out a few financial details," said the Blues co-owner.
Meanwhile, manager Steve Bruce will fly to Amsterdam to hold talks with Melchiot.
Sullivan added: "Steve is going to see Mario and we think he will also say yes but, again, we would then have to reach agreement on a monetary matter."
If the pair sign, it would complete an impressive battery of summer signings for Bruce, who has already landed Emile Heskey, Muzzy Izzet, Julian Gray, and extended Mikael Forssell's loan deal from Chelsea.
