John faces transfer choice
Birmingham striker Stern John is deciding who to join after his club accepted an offer from both Nottingham Forest and Coventry.

The Championship clubs are both believed to have offered 250,000 for the 27-year-old.

"We have now left it up to the lad. Over the weekend, I'm sure he'll make his decision," said boss Steve Bruce.

John joined Birmingham from Forest in 2002 but is now only fifth-choice striker at St Andrews.

Dwight Yorke, Emile Heskey, Mikael Forssell and Clinton Morrison are all above John in the pecking order at the club.

Bruce continued: "Stern has done a fantastic job for this club and he got us into the Premiership with eight goals in 15 games when he arrived here for 100,000 from Notts Forest.

"He got the winner at Millwall in the play-off semi-final and also set up Geoff Horsfield for a goal in the final.

"It's a big wrench that he is leaving but with the addition of Dwight as the fifth striker he is going to be limited."

Forest are confident John will return to the City Ground

"We have met Stern's personal terms," said a Forest spokesman on Thursday.

"He has been away on international duty this week and we're expecting the situation to develop when he returns."

The former Columbus Crew striker joined Forest for 1.5m in October 1999 and scored 21 times in 81 appearances.
