Barrow joint-boss Dave Bayliss has asked supporters to be patient as the club look to strengthen their squad.
"People are getting a bit impatient, upping our budget means reducing our squad but will have better quality," Bayliss told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"(Supporters) will see a massive improvement to what we had last season, believe you and me."
Former Wrexham defender Simon Spender was Barrow's first summer signing last month after agreeing a two-year deal.
The Bluebirds have also agreed terms with an un-named defender although the player's identity is being kept under wraps until fee is due to be set by a tribunal.
We've got to make sure they are the right players because there's no going back once you've signed them

Bayliss did, however, reveal that the player is an England C international.
"All will be unveiled in the next few days. I'm delighted because he's a young lad and a great prospect."
The Bluebirds also began talks with a midfielder this week and Bayliss is hopeful of agreeing a deal with the player.
"That's looking quite prosperous. We're working really hard behind the scenes. We've got to make sure they are the right players because there's no going back once you've signed them."
The Bluebirds are also looking to add a central defender and a striker to their squad in the coming weeks after Steve McNulty and Nick Rogan both turned down the chance to go near full-time with the club next season.
"What we said to the lads is give it six months and if it's not working out for you we'll gladly let you go," Bayliss said.
"But they haven't give it the chance. They've been hasty and gone away for financial reasons so, for me, that says it all.
"At the end of the day, these lads don't want to play for us. I just want to move on, sell them and get lads in to replace them."
Bayliss has also moved to end speculation that McNulty could end up at another Blue Square Premier club.
The former Vauxhall Motors defender was named Blue Square North player of the year last season after an outstanding campaign for the Bluebirds.
"Since we've been in charge, we'd not received one single offer for Macca.
"We've had no-one from this league even enquire about him. We've had teams form Conference North and that's it and that's where he'll go."
