Barnsley have announced they have cancelled midfielder Mounir El Haimour's contract by mutual consent.
The 29-year-old, who signed on a two-year deal from NE Xamax in June 2008, made 20 appearances at Oakwell.
But the former Schaffhausen player has failed to hold down a place in the side this season, managing just three starts during the current campaign.
The Tykes currently lie 18th in the Championship and face their final game of the season at West Brom on Sunday.
